ABOUT US
Utopia Foundation was founded in 2007 by a team of innovative and dedicated visionaries wanting to make a difference. We are a nonprofit that focuses on encouraging relationships and ensuring sustainable programs receive the recognition and support needed to thrive. Utopia Foundation provides opportunities for people to express their good intentions in local and international communities by investing in Champions that have the desire to create or are already part of resilience projects that create sustainable improvements in the livelihoods of those in need.
It is the philosophy of the Utopia Foundation to support Champions who march loudly off the beaten path. While many large charities successfully support projects in larger settings (big cities or communities), we hope to build meaningful relationships with people, communities, families, schools, teachers, parents, children, religious leaders of all faiths, community health workers - any well-intentioned human - who live in the farther corners of our society. We recognize that in our life, we do not get to choose who our parents are, or what culture we are born into; and we recognize that this is not a determinant of who should be seen, heard, supported, or loved. Utopia Foundation is a small team of innovative, dedicated do-ers who bypass bureaucracy and head straight into the conversations and actions with our partners.
Our founder Paul H. Sutherland is dedicated to changing lives and ensuring everyone has equal access to resources and support for a successful future. For more information about Paul, click here.
MANIFESTO
Utopia Foundation is not in the "see what I did" business. We try to keep our work as local as possible and stay anonymously in the background, as much as possible. Our ethos from our founding has been about “helping people express their good intentions.” We do not list our funders nor the resource partners that provide Utopia Foundation with time, talent, resources, or financial support to help create a world where every person goes to bed with a full belly, feeling safe, loved, happy, and optimistic about tomorrow. Our work is about those we serve. Harry S Truman once said, “It's amazing what you can accomplish with pride and unselfishness—where you have people who don't care who gets the credit.” At our core, Utopia Foundation is practical and works to be as efficient as possible in using our resources.
